Italian Ceramic Art Platter by Eugenio Pattarino

About
An Italian art pottery charger by Professor Eugenio Pattarino circa 1950s. The platter can services as a large centrepiece and it features a thick and contrasting glaze with mottled green rim and crimson centre background where a male and a female lions circle each other. The base is signed E. P. F. Italy with an model number 3009.
Eugenio Pattarino (1885-1971) was an well known Italian sculptor and ceramist. He was attended the Academy of Fine Art, studied with Giovanni Fattori and later completed his studies in Venice and Frankfurt. In the late 1930s he launched a ceramic workshop with his son Ranieri in Florence, During the post-war years, the workshop was joined by a wide selection of great potters from all-over Italy. Eugenio Pattarino ceased his activity as ceramist in 1966 and passed away in Florence in 1971.
