Pair Antique Italian Porcelain Figures Early 19th Century Made by Le Nove

About the Item

Provenance: The Metropolitan Museum in New York has a similar Le Nove Porcelain pair of courting figures in its collection. Accession Number: 06.381. Factory: Le Nove manufactory. Date: circa 1810. This exceptional pair of two antique porcelain figure groups of courting couples made with the grey-tinted porcelain for which the Le Nove factory was famous from the mid-18th century through the early 19th century. In each figure group the man extends an arm for the woman. She looks lovingly at him as he smiles back at her. Dimensions of the figures: 6.75 inches tall x 3.5 inches wide x 3.25 inches deep Condition: Excellent Price: $2,800 for the set of both statues The nobility of Italy and France collected Le Nove porcelain. The factory created models after leading Florentine sculptors' most celebrated and popular work. The charm of the subject, the virtuoso modeling, the animated drapery, and the smooth glaze of these figures exemplify the refinement that the Le Nove factory could achieve at the end of the 1700s.
