Very Fine Pair of George III Cast Sauceboats, London, 1774, Parker & Wakelin

These exceptional sauceboats stand on an oval cast pedestal foot decorated with gadrooning. The elongated baluster main body displays a gadrooned rim and the front is engraved with the contemporary Armorial of a Lady, in a lozenge, surrounded by a crossed branch cartouche. Each has a reeded loop handle and is very marked in the foot. The Arms are those of a Lady of the Bourne family of London. This family were prosperous city merchants at this time. The work of Parker and Wakelin is always of the finest quality, as they were widely patronised by the Royal and Noble families. Measures: Length: 7.9 inches, 19.75 cm. Width: 3.25 inches, 8.13 cm. Height, to the top of the handle: 5.5 inches, 13.75 cm. Weight: 28oz, the pair.
