Set of Six 24kt Gold Plated Roman Themed Coasters Signed by Piero Fornasetti

About the Item

This stunning set of six coasters were designed by the legendary Piero Fornasetti for Saks Fifth Avenue in Milan Italy circa 1960. They feature circular porcelain bodies with raised lips. In the center of each there is a pair of Greco Roman figures wearing togas having what appears to be a secretive conversation. They are flanked on each side by three horses (six in total) that they are commanding via leashes. There is ornate stylized floral detailing in the center of each chariot. With its beautiful craftsmanship and unique design by one of Italy's most respected 20th century designers, these plates are sure to delight discerning collectors of the period as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. They are in excellent vintage condition. Signed on the bottom of each "Fornasetti Milano Made in Italy Exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue". They come presented in their original Fornasetti box with tangerine orange accents and handpainted illustrations by Piero Fornasetti. Italy, circa 1960 Dimensions: 4.75" diameter x .25" height.
