19th Century Davenport English Staffordshire Floral Vases Transferware Platter

From the Davenport pottery, Longport, Staffordshire, England, an oversize earthenware, underglaze tissue printed platter, in the “Vase with Medallions of Flowers” pattern. An impressed mark on the verso used circa 1815-1860. A complex blue on white pattern, showing a central image of a bulbous vase on a table, filled with a bouquet of flowers, buds, and sprays. The decorative border consists of a narrow white outer band, a band of white lacy swags atop a dark blue ribbon, and a wide circle of floral medallions which extend into the well of the platter. The medallions feature white roses, leaves, and other flowers against a dark blue background, alternating with blue stylized urns of leaves. Measures: 22.5 in. L x 18 in. W x 1.5 in. H Some expected staining to the verso, otherwise excellent antique condition.
