Minton Majolica Large Christmas Wine Ewer with Bacchus Mask, Cobalt, Dated 1868

Minton Majolica large Christmas wine ewer, the body of the jug with relief molded holly branches encircling, with mistletoe, on a cobalt blue ground, the spout with a Bacchus mask, the handle formed as entwined twigs, impressed marks to reverse: British Registry Mark for 16 January 1863 and 'MINTON' with Minton date cipher for 1868. This design is included in the Karmason Library of the Majolica International Society, I.D. Number: 1222, KL Number: KL002176. For 30 years we have been among the world's preeminent specialists in fine antique majolica.
