Antique 1839 Russian Silver and Niello Enamel Beaker
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Russian niello enamel and silver beaker; an addition to our range of drinks related silverware.
This antique Russian silver beaker has a tapering cylindrical form with a flared rim.
The body of this antique beaker is embellished with niello enamel symmetrical scrolling leaf ornamentation accented with floral motifs.
The ornamentation to the surface of the beaker incorporates two circular cartouches; one side is illustrated with a soldier in a grand military uniform on horseback and the other features a decorative ship with elevated sails, each with city scenes to the background.
The upper and lower portions of the body are encompassed with bands of niello enamel decorated borders.

Condition
This antique Russian silver beaker is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The niello enamel is in perfect condition. Russian hallmarks struck to the underside of the beaker are all very clear.

The body of this antique box is embellished with impressive niello enamel floral festoon panels, encompassed with fret band decorated borders. The box is fitted with an impressive hinged cover, embellished with further niello enamel decoration incorporating a vacant scroll shaped cartouche to the centre. This exceptional box has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 850 standard silver. NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining; it is a sign of quality when boxes have an unlined, solid silver interior.
