Indian Silver Gilt and Agate Handled Travelling Knife and Fork

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Indian silver gilt and agate handled travelling knife and fork set, boxed; an addition to our silver flatware collection This exceptional antique Indian silver gilt and agate handle knife and fork set consists of a table knife and fork. The silver blade of the knife has a plain rounded form and the fork has four tines. The surfaces of the knife and fork are plain and unembellished. The silver gilt ferrule of each piece is embellished with pin struck and stylised bud style borders, in addition to the contemporary engraved initials 'EEW' to the reverse surface. This impressive antique knife and fork set retains the original and impressive faceted agate handles, each ornamented with a ribbed design to the lower portion. These exceptional examples of antique flatware are fitted to the impressive original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, which secures with two hinged catches. Each piece of this travelling knife and fork set retains the original gilding. Condition This antique agate handled knife and fork set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The original box is in presentation condition. The Indian hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of of the knife blade are all very clear.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Dutch silver and agate handled server; an addition to our diverse silverware collection. This impressive antique Dutch silver server has an oval shaped blade. The anterior face of the blade is embellished with impressive finely pierced diaper pattern decoration encompassed with a paralleling bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decorated border. The blade is further ornamented with a bright cut engraved scalloped border to the rim blending to a plain border to the incurve. The reverse of the blade is plain and unembellished. This exceptional example of antique silverware retains the original and exceptional faceted agate handle. The ferrule and lower portion of the stem are ornamented with an engraved simplified lozenge design accented with a trellis pattern. The hallmarks struck to this impressive server include: Maker's mark: TGZ3 Silver quality / purity mark: Lion Passant mark .833 (833/1000) Date letter: Z (1884) Duty mark: Minerva head Condition This antique server is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
