Wabi Moon Jar by Laura Pasquino

US$1,893.36

About

Wabi moon Jar by Laura Pasquino Dimensions: Ø 32 x H 33 cm, opening Ø 8 cm Materials: stoneware ceramic Finishing: natural unglazed exterior, transparent matte glazed interior Colour: black Laura Pasquino Incorporating references from ancient Korean ceramics as well as principles of Japanese aesthetics of wabi sabi, I am led by experimentation with the pure shape of the sphere. My works, which include both functional vessels and sculptures, are each infused with precious imperfections and minimalist aesthetic. The clay, often coarse and textured, is sculpted, hand-built or wheel-thrown to create a wide range of effects and surfaces. My work embraces simplicity, asymmetry and beauty in understated. The dents and scars add subtle grace and individuality to every piece of work. To honour the raw material of clay, the works are often left unglazed. Each artwork is crafted by hand from natural stoneware clay compound and is one of a kind. My aim is to give character to the piece, rather than trying to make it perfect. I leave my fingerprints and tool marks as they happen during the creation process. It gives soul to the object and is a trace of me from that particular moment. Every artwork comes with the certificate of authenticity from the artist.

About the Maker

Galerie Philia Furniture

Galerie Philia is a recognized contemporary design and modern fine arts gallery representing world wide known designers and artists. The Galerie Philia exhibits a collection resulting from a rhizomatic research transcending formal, stylistic, national or historical barriers. The selected art works emanates from different cultures and periods, are incarnated in various and multiform mediums, and evoke multiple and changing interior worlds. The only criterion unifying this composite plurality is their esthetical qualities and the sense they convey. The Galerie Philia attempts in this way to build bridges between different artistic continents in order to enlighten art works endowed with a marked artistic depth.
