Minton majolica six-well oyster plate glazed in simulated malachite, the reverse with impressed and molded marks: 'MINTON,' and Minton Date Cypher for 1873, molded British Registry Lozenge for 1867, the year the design was registered, and impressed design number '1323,' which corresponds to the entry, 'Oyster Plate, Six Oysters (M) 9-ins' in the Minton Majolica Pattern Numbers Books preserved in the Minton Museum and reprinted in Joan Jones.* *1--Joan Jones, "MINTON: The First Two Hundred Years of Design and Production."
