Late 19th Century Mason's Ironstone Small Dish or Pin Tray Water Lily Pattern

US$281.75

About

This is a small dish or pin tray in the very decorative water lily pattern, produced by the Mason's factory at Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England, circa 1897. The dish is well decorated in one of Mason's most beautiful chinoiserie patterns, called Water Lily, which is also one of their most sought after patterns. The pattern is hand painted over-glaze in brilliant enamels of cobalt blue, burnt orange, green and puce all in varying shades, over a transfer printed blue outline. The pattern also has some hand gilded highlights. This pattern is illustrated on Page 136 of Mason's Pattern book published by The Mason's Collectors' Club The base has a printed blue crown and banner with the number B8838 hand painted in red which dates this piece to the late 19th century, circa 1897.
