Georgian John Ridgway Plate Porcelain Hand Painted botanical, Circa 1820

About the Item

This is a beautiful, decorative, Porcelain Botanical Plate by John Ridgway, of Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries, England, dating to the Late Georgian period of the early 19th century, circa 1820. The plate is circular with a wavy rim and a lobed shape with four grape cluster mouldings on the outer rim. It has been carefully hand painted with a named botanical flower pattern called " Italian Pimpernel " which is a flower native to Italy. The outer rim has been hand gilded. The pattern number is 805. This piece is fully marked to the base with the pattern name; Italian Pimpernel and the pattern number 805 in red by the inside foot rim. A similar plate is illustrated in Geoffrey Godden's book called Ridgway Porcelains , Plate 24.
