Handcrafted Creamware Medium Plate with Minimilistic Design

$50.33per item

About

Dunes, 1882 Ltd. with Philippe Malouin. Dunes is a stunning collection of fine creamware featuring skillfully hand-crafted plates and bowls from one of the design world’s most celebrated new talents. Slip-cast from plaster models, the collection maximises Philippe’s beautifully minimalistic patterns through analogue 3D-printing. Made by Philippe, the printer creates shapes that cannot be designed by hand or computer, only movement, imperfection and randomised material deposition form the pieces. The shapes formed are carefully utilised and transformed into functional china pieces, highlighting the skill of the craftsman and creating a collection that wonderfully exemplifies its title.

At the core of 1882 Ltd. is progressive design and industrial craftsmanship. We produce a combination of essential objects and special pieces that highlight the centuries of industrial heritage craft skills and knowledge that reside in the heart of the British ceramics industry, Stoke-on-Trent. Our ceramics are to be used, loved and desired and to bring enjoyment be it in dining and decorative objects to lighting and art pieces. Each collection has a different spirit but they always stay true to our core beliefs. There is incredible human skill in everything we do and we focus on the process as well as the design. There are no less than 10 processes to make a mug, all of which require great human skill. While we are keen to show the processes behind how something is made we value the importance of good design and superlative quality that will last the test of time. We are prepared to test the bounds of the material. We make what we love. The Icon Collection brings together the design world’s most respected and renowned designers and studios, known for their devotion to purity and process. Limited edition, large in scale and complexity, the Icon Collection is a testament to industrial craft skills and ethos embraced by 1882 Ltd..
