George Jones Majolica Water Lily Pad Footed Comport, Lush Greens, English, 1877



George Jones Majolica water lily footed comport glazed in lush greens, with a relief-molded lily flower, the base formed by four lily pads, English, dated 1877. Marks to reverse: 'GJ' Monogram; British Registry Lozenge for 9 March 1869, the date the pattern was registered; George Jones date letter 'C' for 1877, the year the comport was actually made; painted number in reserve, '1312,' which corresponds to the entry, 'Waterlily Pad Dessert Low Comport' in the George Jones Majolica Pattern Numbers Books preserved in the Wedgwood Archives of the Wedgwood Museum, Barlaston, England and reprinted in V.
