- Clyde Burt Ceramic Vessel or VaseBy Clyde BurtLocated in Dallas, TXBorn in Melrose, Ohio in 1922, Clyde Burt would go on to become a major voice in American studio ceramics. He studied at Fort Wayne Art School and later at the Cape Cod School of Art before landing at the Cranbrook Academy of Art to study under Maija Grotell. While Grotell is responsible for bringing the wheel to Cranbrook, Burt made it central to his practice and his thrown works express the same endless curiosity as his teacher. Upon returning to Ohio, Burt built a home studio on his family’s farmland near the Little Auglaize River and harvested rich clay from the surrounding area. He started every day at 5:30 in the morning and would work until he knew he “had enough”. Constantly experimenting with glazes, colors and surface decoration, Burt painstakingly recorded his successes and failures in a small notebook...Category

- Contemporary Porcelain 'Fragment Vase' by Vezzini and ChenLocated in London, GBInspired by rock formation, Fragments is a collection of porcelain vases, the largest yet produced by the duo. Each porcelain vase is made using traditional slip casting technique, where liquid clay in poured into a plaster mould and allowed to form a layer before the excess liquid is poured out. The surface is then hand carved following the faceted form of the vase making each vase completely unique. The different textured surfaces create an interplay between light and shadow typical of Vezzini & Chen’s work. The fragment vases...Category

- Ceramic, Porcelain Vein VesselLocated in Hermosa Beach, CAThis ceramic vessel works both as a decorative piece on its own or can be used as a vase. I made this piece mixing a combination of porcelain paper clay with a black sable clay. I fired this piece to a cone 10 high fire and used minimal glazing to really showcase the beautiful black clay. I am doing an entire series with this clay body and these pieces look great paired together. There are multiple shapes available so you can create a pairing in twos and threes. This design begins with a strong base, then I build these pieces up with coils and pinch...Category
