About the Item

A centrepiece characterized by many irregular facets, carved into a transparent material. An elegant and refined creation by Borek Sipek. Borek Sipek (1949-2016) studied interior design at the school for Arts and Crafts in Prague from 1964-1968. He went to Germany to study architecture at the Kunsthochschule in Hamburg. In 1993, he won the Prins Bernard Fons Prize for architecture and arts. Sipek has an international reputation as an imaginative and versatile artist. He was appointed Prague castle architect by Czech president, Vaclav Havel. He worked from 1992 to 1996 on architectural detailing and other features of Joze Plecnik's 1920s conception. He re-designed and created new exhibitions for the state rooms. Although his main focus was art, he also had a passion for architect.
