Silver German Pair of Glass Decanters / Carafes with Silver Mounting Art Nouveau Period / made circa 1900 These carafes / decanters are of most elegant appearance: The hollow parts made of glass - they are of very slight tapering type - have smooth surface / the glass bottom of each carafe is decorated with a stunningly cut STAR PATTERN. - The silver mountings consist of elegant handle as well as of hinged lid with handhold for thumb and spout. Additionally, the lid's surface on each of the carafes is decorated with a coat of arms: There is the inscription 'MONTAUBAN' legible - helmets, acanthus scrolls, a spear and a pair of shields are visible there; Montauban is a commune in the French Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Midi-Pyrénées region of Southern France (the town was founded in the year 1144) / it is the capital of the department and lies 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of Toulouse.
