18th Century Austrian-Hungarian Pewter Tankard Hinged Lion Lid

About the Item

18th century Austrian-Hungarian pewter tankard hinged lion lid. Fine antique Baroque pewter tankard with twist fluted sides and hinged lid topped with a lion figurine. The tankard is embellished with floral engravings. On the inside bottom a flower medallion is mounted. The use of these medallions disappeared in the later part of the 18th century. This tankard originated in Austria-Hungary, a Monarchy in the 18th century. The tankard is in fine condition with typical wear overall. Slight break to the thumbpiece. Measurements: H 13 ½” x W 7” x D 6 ½” Weight: 3 lb.
