Measure: H 39 cm/ 15 1/4".
Carl Hugo Magnus Elmqvist was a certified and well-known sculptor. He first concentrated his studies on arts and crafts at the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm, from 1888 until 1892. The works created by Hugo Elmqvist were made in the Art Nouveau style – they were organic, undulating, imaginative and true to life.
Later, he continued his studies in Paris and Italy, where he remained living for a period of time. The most famous works of his hand are the patinated bronze vases, which Elmqvist often decorated with plants and animals.
