Superb Art Deco Vase with Tropical Bird Motif, George Condé for Mougin, France

About the Item

This very fine and rare Art Deco vase with deeply incised design, depicting tropical birds amidst a profusion of flowers and leaf forms, was designed by George Condé for Mougin Freres in Luneville, France. Condé was known for his designs for posters, porcelain pieces and ceramics, and his work epitomized stylized Art Deco design heavily influenced by Cubism. The vase was produced by Joseph and Pierre Mougin, who were closely assoicated with the Ecole de Nancy, and produced a line of ceramic pieces that are characterized by deep incised lines and gorgeous glazes.
