About the Item

Pair of Silver Vases is an original artwork realized in Germany in the 1930s. Original silver metal. Designed by Fritz August Breuhaus de Groot. Made in Germany by WMF. Good conditions, slight wear due to time. Very beautiful and bright pair of hight silver metal vases with a rounded base and short conical body. The upper side has a flared shape and the body is stretched. The vases has been produced by WMF Company, German. WMF, Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, produced glass and metal objects for about a century, but most interesting period in is the decade between 1926 and 1936. This company also produced metal tableware (in particular silvered flatware). The original 1883 glass house was destroyed during the First World War. The work has been designed by Fritz August Breuhaus de Groot (1883, Solingen - 1960, Cologne) a architect who specialized in interior design particularly for transportation. Breuhaus trained at the Polytechnic in Stuttgart and was a student of Peter Behrens at Düsseldorf’s arts and crafts school. In 1906 he left school to work in the design field. He also became known for his villas and country houses for the German high society. During and after World War II Breuhaus continued to design Modernist buildings for wealthy clients. Fritz August Breuhaus de Grot used to present himself as a late follower of modern architecture: he dates the beginning of his career in the year 1928, when, for the first time, he could build the way he had imagined to during many years before.
