An impressive monumental Czech Bohemian contemporary carved Bohemian art glass vase by, Lukas Pokorny designed for the Ajeto glass studio in Novy Bor. This massive vase is clear to red coloration and carries hues of pink throughout against a heavily carved and polished background. (Coloration will vary depending on how the vase is displayed) The vase is signed, "Pokorny, 2007" Bio: -Lukas Pokorny was born in 1979 in Ceska Lipa, in what is now the Czech Republic. He studied glass cutting at the Apprentice Glass School. Lukas began working at the Ajeto Glass Studio in 2004, before that he worked at the Crystalex Factory. He was trained by Joseph Bela, his teacher and mentor in the art of glass cutting. Through experimentation and practice Lukas is credited with having mastered many various and new techniques of cutting engraving glass. Pokorny’s work has been shown in glass competitions for young artists throughout Holland, Germany and the United States. Lucas enjoys challenging his skills and creativity by cutting one piece of glass using many different techniques. Notes: The Atejo Studio is owned part by Mr. Novotny who has traveled the world giving demonstrations and teaching in glass. In the US he has taught at the Corning Museum of Glass as well as the Pilchuck Glass School. Mr Novotny has also worked with many other famous artists and designers including Dale Chihuly and Marvin Lipofsky.The Ajeto studio also produced many of the works of world famous artist Rene Roubicek. One of the founding fathers of the Czech studio glass art movement. The renowned artist and designer Borek Sipek also produced all of his glass work at Ajeto. Among Mr. Sipek’s many accomplishments he is well known for being the chief architect of Prauge Castle under President Vaclav Havel.
