Matteo Zorzenoni Crystal Ball Double Vase in Ash and Glass for Cappellini

About the Item

The magical rubber bubbles that became a cult game of the 1990s were the inspiration behind Matteo Zorzenoni’s crystal ball vases; these decorative elements made of delicate spheres of glass are a reinterpretation of an evocative childhood pastime. In this collection of vase sculptures, the small bases in bleached ashwood support large spheres made of mouth-blown borosilicate glass: the resulting visual effect is an interesting counterbalance between fullness and emptiness, fragility and resistance. For each type of vase, there is a set variety of colors; any irregularity in the coloring or surface should be considered the valuable effect of the particular techniques employed by the masterful artisanal glass-blowers during the creation of the spheres. Structure: Massive ash spheres: colored borosilicate glass Available finish: Structure: 113 bleached ash, spheres: Transparent glass, green glass Additional details: This spheres are the result of the antique art of glass makers. Any surface bumps and differences in color must therefore be considered qualities.
