Martin Brothers Art Pottery Floral Design Vase, Dated 1897



A Martin Brothers stoneware art pottery small vase decorated with incised flowering shrubs decorated in yellow/brown/green dated 1897. The small bottle shaped vase stands on a narrow rounded foot with a rounded bulbous body and a tall narrow neck with rounded shaped top. The vase is decorated with flowering shrubs incised around the body and painted in yellow-brown glazes with pale green leaves and stems on a light oatmeal salt glazed ground with brown glazes applied around the neck. The vase has incised marks 1-97 Martin Bros London & Southall marks to the base along with black collections marks dated London 1955, possible museum marks. The vase is offered in good condition. Provenance: Acquired from an extensive private Martin Brothers pottery collection. From the private collection of a Belgian based gentleman of English Art Pottery.
