A Martin Brothers stoneware art pottery vase decorated with incised flowering dog roses decorated in brown and blue glazes dating from the 19th century. The small bottle shaped vase stands on a wide rounded foot with a rounded bulbous body and a narrow funnel shaped neck. The vase is decorated with two flowering incised dog rose stems with buds and leaves painted in tones of brown and blue on a light brown salt glazed ground with the neck and foot rim applied with dark brown glazes. The vase has incised marks Martin London & Southall marks to the base and is also numbered 620. The vase has a small chip to the foot rim and is otherwise offered in good condition with a making glaze defect to the top rim. Provenance: acquired from an extensive private Martin Brothers pottery collection. From the private collection of a Belgium based gentleman of British Art Pottery.
