Gunnar Ander for Elme Glasbruk, Group of 8 Glass Vases, Sweden, 1960s

About the Item

A wonderful modernist set of eight 1960s glass vases. In four different colours and 7 different heights, these really make a strong impression standing on a piece of furniture! Size, tallest 50cm (19.7in), shortest 14cm (5.5in). The colours are, green, blue, purple and orange/yellowish. One vase with an old "Elme" manufacturer label. Gunnar Ander (1908 - 1976) A Swedish designer and architect. His design achievement covers a wide area. He was hired by Erik Hovhammar on Lindshammars Glasbruk to develop a new design profile to differentiate them from the competition. He also worked at Elme Glasbruk and with Ystad Metall, where he designed wrought iron and other art objects, where his candelabras from the fifties elegantly captured the spirit of that time. He continued his work at Lindshammars and Ystad Metall until he died in 1976.
