Boch Frères Art Deco Vase with Stylized Floral Motifs and African Style Decor

About the Item

An Art Deco ovoidal vase in polychrome matte enameled earthenware with a black everted neck from the Belgian Boch Frères Keramis Factory. The floral motif in warm shades covering the body features stylized tulips in white roundels. The brown background presents wavy lines and circles reminiscent of African art, one of the main inspirations of the Art Deco style. The Boch Frères Keramis factory was one of Belgium’s largest producers of ceramics during the early 20th century, developing original designs manufactured on an Industrial scale. This beautiful vase by Boch Frères, with its modern stylized floral motifs and its touch of primitivism characteristic of the Art Deco style, will bring life and sophistication to any room setting.

    Located in Palm Desert, CA
A pair of Japanese underglaze blue and white porcelain baluster vases from the late 19th century painted with shaped panels of flowers, insects and birds. Formerly in the Kentshire collection, each piece features a round panel with a fly on a prunus branch, naturalistically painted in cobalt blue on a white ground. Another shaped panel presents two charming birds on a branch painted by a free, fluid hand with shading and brushstrokes. Watery blue peonies, auspicious symbols of springtime and prosperity, emerge from a dense cobalt blue background of tight arabesques motifs arranged in a most delicate composition. The lip of the vase presents a thunder pattern frieze, symbol of life, and a mark on the bottom. This pair of Japanese blue and white porcelain vases...
