Pair of 19th century Romantic Spelter statues by Auguste Moreau, considered one of the three pre-eminent sculptors of the Belle Époque in late 19th century, France. Depicting a young lad and maiden attempting to protect a young bird from the attentions of a cat, it is a charming exhibition of the famed sculptor's ability to capture every day life's events with utter clarity and depth with charming subjects of children and animals. Patinaed bronze finish completes the wonderful pair, circa 1890s. Each measures 13 H x 5.5 in diameter.
