Hammered iron wire sculpture with steel stand. Laure Simoneau's creation 'The Woman in a Hat' is part of her Modigliani Series. Her sculptures follow in the footsteps of Alexander Calder, creating substance out of nothing : the space between the wires becomes tangible and the sculpture comes to life. Reminiscent of Modigliani's portraits, this elegant woman with her long neck, broad-brimmed hat, and with the tip of her finger lightly touching her chin, appears pensive yet coy, delicate yet strong. She speaks to us without speaking.
