Gorgeous Rosenthal Germany Nicest Figurine modelled by Constantin Holzer-Defanti | model created in year 1919 manufactured 1929 It is the figurine of Polish-German dancer and actress LENA AMSEL* playing the lute here: The figurine is called 'MERRY MARCH', too, depicting the actress having been well known in the Twenties while she is making goose steps ... * LENA AMSEL (born 1898 in Lódz / Poland - † 2th November 1929 in Paris) was a dancer and actress. The artist - having come from rich Jewish home - moved in year 1915 to Berlin. She had gotten in touch with famous artists of variety theater, film and stage theater / for example, she had learned to know Max Reinhardt in year 1916. As from the year 1917 Lena Amsel started her career as actress in silent movies / simultaneously with these activities, Amsel had been engaged as dancer in Austria and Germany. She moved to Paris in year 1927, where she met for example Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, André Breton, René Crevel and Paul Éluard.- Unfortunately, Lena Amsel was killed in an accident - car crash - in year 1929.
