Unusual Pair of Egyptian Revival Candelabra, 19th Century

About the Item

A very decorative pair of Egyptian revival patinated bronze candelabra, modelled as a pharoah supporting the central Egyptian symbol of Re, a sun disk, laterally two arms decorated with stylized lotus leaves, supporting cone-shaped nozzles, the back and base with panels of figures and hieroglyphics. The candelabras are of either French or American origin. This pair of candelabra was shown at the exhibition ”With Napoleon in Egypt” , at the Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Cologne, 2009-2010.
