"Readers in the Toilet" is a humorous two-piece set by Mexican ceramic artist, sculptor, and painter, Manuel David Reyes Ramírez, made with red ceramic Oaxacan and Zacatecan clay, painted with oxides from the region. Done with the hand-modeled technique and cooked in traditional wood-fired oven. Reyes currently lives in Santo Domingo Yanhuitlan, a small Mixtec town in the state of Oaxaca. He atended the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas in Xochimilco, Mexico City and later returned to Oaxaca where he is originally from. Reyes has been part of many national and international exhibitions, in museums such as The National Museum of Mexican Art and The Waterloo Museum of Art. Manuel's work has also been mentioned in books such as "Manos y Alma de Oaxaca" by The Oaxacan Institute of Crafts.
