Gilt Bronze Figure of Oedipus and The Sphinx, by Francois Leon Sicard, 1862-1934

About the Item

Another cast without gilt is in the Musee D'orsay. The work was also edited in Biscuit by Sevres. Sicard studied under Barrias and Felix Laurent. He won Prix de Rome in 1891 and a Gold Medal at Exposition Universelle in 1900. Signed and stamped F. Barbedienne Founder.
