About

Interesting Vienna bronze figurine: Semi-nude lady holding a hoop It is a finest figurine. The bare-breasted figurine is clad in a short skirt / her long and slender legs are of excellent appearance. - This bronze lady is of stunning liveliness (finest manufacturing quality) ! It is a Viennese Bronze Figurine (most probably manufactured by Bergmann firm), but related signature isn't visible here since the figurine is attached to brownish-white marble base. Material: gilt bronze, marble Designer: Bruno Zach (1891-1935) The well-known Austrian artist and designer Bruno Zach was born in Vienna and worked in Austria as well as in Germany. He immigrated to the USA in the year 1935. - Bruno Zach was one of the best known designers of Art Deco figurines in period of 1918 - 1935, having emphasized design of dancers and nude figurines of stunning liveliness. Beyound that, Zach specialized in design of cowboys and native Americans during his later creating period / circa 1930 - 35. - Bruno Zach's artistic activitiy in Austria is strongly connected with Vienna Bronze manufactory; numerous stunning figurines were made by order of Vienna Bronze firm having been designed by Bruno Zach ! Detailed informations about Viennese Bergmann bronze manufactory: Franz Xaver Bergman (or Franz Xaver Bergmann / 1861–1936) was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze Oriental, erotic and animal figures, the latter often humanized or whimsical, humorous objects d'art. Noted for his detailed and colorful work, and signing either a 'B' in an urn-shaped cartouche or 'Nam Greb' - 'Bergman' in reverse. These marks were used to disguise his identity on erotic works. His father Franz Bergmann was a professional chaser from Gablonz / Bohemia who came to Vienna and founded a small bronze factory in 1860. His son Franz Xaver Bergmann (1861 – 1936) inherited the company and opened a new foundry in 1900. Many of the bronzes from the 1900s were still based on designs from his fathers workshop.
