Bronze sculpture with brown patina by Charles-Alphonse Gumery, featuring a smiling young woman with doves. This bronze statuette is signed: Gumery ROME. Charles Gumery most probably made this bronze during his stay at the Villa Medici in Rome,
circa 1860

Literature :
Charles-Alphonse Achille Gumery (1827-1871) was a French sculptor, student of Armand Toussaint at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1850, he received the prestigious Prix de Rome and became a prominent sculptor of the Second Empire. Highly appreciated, Gumery was awarded the Legion d'honneur on 29th of June 1867.
