Austrian 19th Century Patinated Bronze and Vert De Patricia Marble Statue

A very handsome Austrian 19th century patinated bronze and Vert de Patricia marble statue of a gladiator with a lion, a lioness and a panther, signed and stamped F. Gornik. The statue is raised by a think rectangular Vert de Patricia marble stepped base. The impressive gladiator is standing in front of a rock with "ROMA" carved on it. He is dressed in period armor and in his left hand holds the leather leashes for a ferocious and superbly detailed lion, lioness and a panther. Each animal wears a harness and are tied together with chains. The gladiators has a gauntlet on his right arm and holds a whip. Wonderful proportions and exceptional attention to detail throughout.
