Delicate fine porcelain figurine depicting a Chinese woman.
This figurine was (like the other figurine depicting a Chinese man playing the flute) designed in 1926 by Mathilde Szendrö-Jaksch for Augarten Wien (Vienna). It is very well handcrafted and has very fine hand painted details.
Measurements: H 8.5 x W 7 x D 13 cm
Signature: At the base a underglaze beehive mark with crown and "Wien" and the number 93. Imprinted "Made in Austria S"; 1600.
Condition: In very good vintage condition; 1 minor imperfection; a minuscule piece of one of the hairpins is missing (hardly noticeable by eye) please look at the details pics.
For over 300 years the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory produces the finest "white gold" tableware and exquisite decorative objets by hand in the heart of Vienna. In terms of its art-historical ranking in the German-speaking area, the porcelain produced at the manufactory is on a par with Meißen and Nymphenburg Porcelain. Although the Augarten porcelain remained very popular, the manufactory was forced to close in 1864. The company could not stand the competition arising through industrialization. But fortunately in 1923 Augarten porcelain began to be produced again.
