Gilt Bronze Art Nouveau Bust of a Young Maiden, Artist Signed Savine, circa 1895

US$2,400

About

This is an exceptional example of the beauty of the art nouveau movement. It has all the qualities of what art nouveau lovers look for. The back to nature look with the flowing hair, the flowers, and even the back of the bronze is staying true to the look art nouveau. The patina is in excellent condition which is so often a problem with a gilt finish. Artist signed "Savine". Leopold Savine born on March 6, 1861 in Paris. His works were on display in Paris, and he won several awards including a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. For an example of this bronze consult the 4 volumes of bronzes, "Berman Abage". This bronze was titled "Lily" according to this publication. A very handy set of books that are a must purchase for anyone who has any interest in bronzes. This is a top of the line example of the beauty of art nouveau sculpture.
