Vienna Bronze Cold Painted Horse, Signed Kauba, circa 1900

US$3,950

About

This is a magnificent example of the work of the noted Austrian sculptor, Karl Kauba (1865-1922).The detailed casting is so fine, you can see the veins on the belly. The cold painting really brings the animal to life. Mounted on a naturalistic base further adds to the package. This is about as large a model of a horse that I have ever seen, and just to verify that, this bronze weighs 20 lbs. There is much written on the artist almost anywhere you look. Kauba and Franz Bergmann were certainly the 2 most revered artist in this genre. Signed on the base and in fine condition. A stately proud animal.
