Early 20th Century French Patinated Bronze Hunt Dog Sculpture Signed T. Cartier

US$1,200Asking Price

This beautifully executed, antique bronze figure was sculpted in France, circa 1920. The sculpture sits on a dark green marble base and features a hunt Labrador sited on his rear end and posing with the front left leg raised. The work of art is signed on the front by the artist, T. Cartier. The bronze canine sculpture is in excellent condition with a rich, old patinated finish. It would make a wonderful addition to a man's study or library. Thomas Francois Cartier (1879-1943), was a French animal sculptor who studied under Georges Gardet. He was known to have created many models of predatory animals including lions, big cats and particularly hunting dogs. He first exhibited his work at the Paris Salon of 1904, and continued to perfect his skill until he won a gold medal in 1927. Measures: 6.5" W x 4.5" H x 11" H.
