White Chalice Cup on Black Tripod Legs, Glazed Hand Built Ceramic

$875

About

White cup chalice is a modern primitive ceramic piece, designed and hand built by the artist, Helena Starcevic. The cup has a dense white glaze over a dark clay body which adds depth to the glaze. The tripod legs have a matte black glaze with some speckling and sheen. The wave rim on the chalice cup creates a fluidity and movement, revealing the individuality and uniqueness from the Artist's hand-work. You could drink from the shallow bowl or float a single flower. This is a unique object for contemplation and conversation. Fully hand-formed, fired twice. Signed with artist's signature chop underneath.

About The Maker

Helena Starcevic Ceramics produces work that straddles the line between fine and decorative art. Each piece is one of a kind, hand-built entirely by the artist in her New York studio.   Taking inspiration from the natural world, Ms. Starcevic's work includes references to the stark beauty of the desert, prehistoric cave paintings, and the human form (within and without). Everything is filtered through Ms. Starcevic’s own singular aesthetic, at once quiet yet strong, meditative, and beautiful. Pieces are made in different clays and finishes, and at different scales. Groupings are available. Helena Starcevic’s ceramic pieces are held in private collections across the US and Europe. She has held numerous residencies including one at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City.
