Rare Isamu Noguchi Sculptural Bowl

About the Item

Rare large cast iron bowl attributed to Isamu Noguchi for Bonniers Japan. This is the larger example of this form produced in the 1950s at the Ooi Kojo foundry in Japan for the Bonniers Department Store, New York. An image of the plaster prototype of this example can be seen in article number 244.01 in The Noguchi Catalogue Raisonne labeled (research pending.) The smaller example of this form sold at Wright auction in Chicago in 2011 for over $60,000. This is a museum quality sculpture.
