Tabletop sculpture in brushed brass inspired by proportions of the Golden Ratio
By Thomas Joynes (British)
Located in London, GB
'Aurora' by British sculptor Thomas Joynes is based on the Golden Ratio, with perfectly proportioned flowing curves. The original concept was developed as part of a commission for The Crown Estate in London, where it was displayed in a foyer with a tall, narrow window to the street. This version has been made from brushed brass and set on a granite plinth (25x25x5cm). Thomas Joynes first discovered his love of making as a boy when he explored the woodlands of rural Essex in England, using his hands to craft bows and arrows - and tree houses. During his Foundation course, he was drawn to working with Plaster of Paris – casting, moulding and carving large solid blocks of it. His work is clearly influenced by 20th -century masters, such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Constantin Brancusi, Jean Arp and Naum Gabo, but to these he brings his own sense of movement and dynamism. Major projects include public art commissions, such as a three-metre high bronze sculpture for a Metro station in Hong Kong. Functional sculpture projects include a set of bespoke gates and a three-metre wide, wall-hung, contemporary sundial. Most usually his work is commissioned for outside locations, such as gardens, courtyards and landscapes but increasingly he has turned his attention towards work that sits happily within an interiors scheme, using finishes such as polished bronze and 24ct gold gilding. Glazed Ceramic Sculptural Vase by Freyja Dorren Unique Contemporary UK
Located in London, GB
Freyja Dorren, Projection, 2023, glazed earthenware- 54cm Height X 35cm Width Unique piece. Freyja Dorren, born and raised in Edinburgh and now based in London, is a recent graduate at the Royal College of Art Ceramics & Glass MA which follows a Degree in Textiles at Central Saint Martins. Freyja has always been influenced by the life of cities, exploring the marriage of old historical aspects of architecture with new and modern developments into our ever-growing cities. Her interest in architecture stems from taking walks through the city of London, discovering old classical buildings, brutalist creations and high-tech features all within a short distance walk from each other. This led her to create work that is a nod to the past and the present, with a graphic style and finish, combining the undiscerning elements of a city. Each piece she has created is influenced by interior detailing, deriving from places such as the V&A Museum and other historic landmarks within London. Freyja's textile print background enables her to transform the tactile surface to create a unique interwoven surface, giving a current relevance to the object, bringing a contemporary twist to each landmark detail, magnifying repetition, and significance of history when we design. The starting point of this sculptural vase is Victorian architectural...

Editioned bronze tabletop sculpture based on forms made by folding pleated paper
By Thomas Joynes (British)
Located in London, GB
'Heliosphere' by British sculptor Thomas Joynes follows a range of works that the artist developed from exploring paper folding and pleating. After coming across the paper works of British artist, Richard Sweeney, Joynes fell in love with the fluid nature and organic forms that could be achieved by cutting, folding and pleating pieces of paper. Heliosphere was conceived from drawing a series of concentric circles on paper and then folding along the lines...

Tabletop sculpture in semi-polished copper inspired by the forms of Naum Gabo
By Thomas Joynes (British)
Located in London, GB
'Ascension' by British sculptor Thomas Joynes is in part a homage to the sculptor, Naum Gabo, and in part an exploration of the 'teardrop' form. The weight and balance of the sculpture has an intricate network of micro wires that become a focal point, bisecting the flowing curves of the outer form. Made from semi-polished copper with tips of gold leaf. It is set on a pale marble plinth (25x25x5cm). This is a Unique piece that will not be repeated. Erratic K with 12ct White Gold, optical glass sculpture by Anthony Scala
By Anthony Scala
Located in London, GB
'Erratic K with 12ct White Gold' is a handblown and cut glass sculpture created by the British artist, Anthony Scala. The geological term 'erratic' refers to a stone or boulder that differs to its surrounding rock, that is believed to have been displaced and deposited by glacier movement. Differing from his Auri collection, Scala's aim was to produce a series of sculptures that are freer, amorphous and suggestive of movement. Striking in the singular, these really capture this concept en masse. With a career in glass now spanning over 20 years, Scala creates art works that can only be described as acts of precision. As equally beautiful as they are meticulously created and despite being a hugely skilled glass blower, it is with cold working that Scala excels. Initially qualified as an architectural model maker, it was during this time that Scala learnt many disciplines that would be equally relevant to and ultimately inform his practice today. His passion for glass was discovered however during an apprenticeship with Peter Layton at his studio at London Glassblowing. The beginning of a long standing association for him with this acclaimed studio. In 2005 at the age of 27, Scala won the prestigious 'Glass Sellers Award' (other recipients have included Alison Kinnard, Colin Reid, Richard Jackson...
