This exceptional antique Edwardian English sterling silver inkwell has been modelled in the form of a perched frog. The surface of this impressive novelty silver inkwell is embellished with embossed details reproducing the details of the frog's anatomical features, in addition to the formal attire comprised of trousers, buttoned jacket and bowtie. This unusual and rare silver inkwell is fitted with an impressive hinged hallmarked sterling silver cover modelled in the form of the frog's top hat. The cover opens to allow access to the removable glass ink liner. The figure is perched on the rim of a plain oval platform, incorporating a sunken well.
