Empire Style Gilt Bronze Mounted Green Glass Inkwell Bottle

About the Item

This is an Empire style parallelogram shaped emerald green glass heavy inkwell. It’s guilt bronze mounted with a scene of sphinxes statues, bell shaped vases, and maidens moving and holding swags. The scene is framed by a border of bay leaves garland and palmettos in the upper and bottom area respectively. The bronze knob shaped hinged top, it is engraved with a maiden thinker. There are an indentation of the glass at each side of the two upper corners of the bottle that serves to rest the pens.
