Gothic Table Clock w. Stunning Antique Pocket Watch Made of Gilt Bronze or Gold

About the Item

Small Gothic table clock with gilt bronze (or possibly golden) pocket watch by John Worboys of London, 1780-1810. We know too little about antique pocket watches to be able to tell you if the pocket watch inside this unique bronze table clock is made of gilt bronze or if it could actually be made of gold. We found some data on the John Worboys maker's mark that is engraved in the pocket watch size clock and Worboy is mentioned in the ' Lowndes's London Directory for the year 1786' (as shown in image 9 and 10). This unique antique however dates from two periods. The cathedral design bronze 'housing' of this clock dates to the early 20th or late 19th century. The amazingly intricate timepiece (or pocket watch) inside however, is either late 1700s or early 1800s. In our view the quality of the hand-sawn and hand-engraved back is amazing and there even is a small gemstone in the middle. We don't know how to make this piece run, but we feel that collectors will without any problem. Have you also noticed the beautiful and timeless (no pun intended) dials and dial face. It is either silver or silvered and the beveled glass front too is in superb condition. This unique antique too is great value for money and our price even includes perfect packing and also free delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days. Maximum height x width x depth: 7.1 x 5.1 x 3.55 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.
