18th Century Louis XVI Period Figurative Bisque Clock

About the Item

A late 18th century French Louis XVI bisque shepherdess mantel clock. The tableau modelled in bisque porcelain (unglazed porcelain), showing a shepherdess on the left holding her shoe to a winged putto, along with grazing sheep. The figural group rests on a gilt bronze and mahogany base. The white enamel dial has Arabic numerals and is signed ‘Deverberrie a Paris’, one of the leading clock makers of the period.
