French Empire Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock

About the Item

This unusual clock signed Blanc Fils Palais Royal is modelled as a library, flanked by two seated children engrossed in books with a bookcase in the background. It is crisply modelled and of a fine warm color, with enamelled dial and blued steel hands. It stands on a conforming wooden base. The mechanism is an early 8 day rope/silk pendulum movement. Mantel Clock can be found in the book La Pendule Francaise Pierre Kjellberg page 430.
