About

Made by Ferdinand Barbedienne (French, 1810-1892), the design by Louis-Constant Sevin (French, 1821-1888). The central circular dial signed 'F. Barbedienne' and 'A Paris' in an architectural glass clock case applied with masks and trailing foliage surmounted by a figure of Neptune, the movement stamped 'J.E. DUPONT PARIS,' and '9658' with Apollo sun-burst pendulum, raised on a stepped rectangular plinth, the reverse of the case inscribed 'F. BARBEDIENNE. FONDEUR. PARIS.' This monumental mantel clock is one of the finest examples of Barbedienne's work, comprising a stunning Belle Époque design of expert craftsmanship.
