Rare Eva Zeisel Baby Bottom Glass Candleholder

About the Item

Eva Zeisel (1906-2011) was one of the most renowned Industrial designers of the 20th century with over 10,000 designs to her credit, though many were not put into production. Primarily known for ceramics, Zeisel did designs for other mediums such as glass and wood. In 1995 Zeisel was asked to submit some of her designs that had never been produced for limited production runs by the Orange Chicken Gallery in NYC. One of those designs was this candle holder known as the "Baby bottom" candleholder. Urban Glass Atelier in Brooklyn, NY was selected to produce this object in a limited edition of 50, making these extremely rare designs by Eva Zeisel. The object measures 4.25" tall and 4" wide, and as each is handblown, no two are identical. It is signed with etched signature to base, "E. Zeisel." Soft human like curves are a motif in Zeisel's best designs and became a signature style for her. The soft flowing lines and natural curves are a hallmark of her designs going back to earliest work and are representative of her design aesthetic.
